Creating a clustered service by domain
Another way to cluster Internet Services is by domain. For example, you have a company with a large customer base and want to route all your customer and employee traffic through two different domains to reduce congestion.

You must register any external domain names you use on your system.
You may also want your customers and staff to view different web sites (see About creating FirstClass web sites). This is handy if you do not want your customers to have access to confidential company information or have to authenticate each time they access your site.
In this scenario, we decided to route all employee traffic on the primary Internet Services domain and all customer traffic on a cluster with a separate domain. By doing this, we provide both our customers and employees with totally different home pages and FirstClass information, while reducing the mail and web traffic for both groups of users.

These are the system forms we used to create this clustered setup:
Primary Internet Services
• Basic Internet Setup form
• Gateway form
Clustered Customer Services
• Basic Internet Setup form
• Gateway form

Creating the Customer Services cluster
To create a new mail cluster we followed these steps:
1       Create a new clustered service, following the steps in Creating a simple clustered service.
In this example, we named the new clustered service Customer Services.
2       Open the primary Internet Services folder.
3       Double-click the Basic Internet Setup form.
4       Verify that the correct information has been entered on the General tab.
5       Select Enable SMTP, Enable POP3, and Enable IMAP4 on the Mail tab.
6       Enter the employee mail server name (for example, mail.employee.huskyplanes.com) in "SMTP server domain name" on the Mail tab.
7       Select Enable HTTP and enter the employee web server name (for example, www.employee.huskyplanes.com) in "HTTP server domain name" on the Web tab.
8       Select Enable FTP and enter the employee FTP server name (for example, ftp.employee.huskyplanes.com) in "FTP server domain name" on the File tab.

Modifying the Customer Services gateway
1       Open the Gateways & Services folder on the administrator’s Desktop.
2       Double-click the Customer Services gateway form.
3       Enter the Customer user group on the Directory tab.

4       Click Directory Information and enter the password (in our case, SXMXTXP2) in "Password".

If you already use Directory filtering, you can choose to specify one or more gateways in "Allow this group to view these groups" on the Directory tab of the Department group form. See our online help or press F1 when you have the form open.

5       Open the Customer Services Config folder.
6       Double-click the Basic Internet Setup form.
7       Clear Enable SMTP on the Mail tab and enter the customer mail server (for example, mail.huskyplanes.com) in "SMTP server domain name" on the Mail tab.
8       Select Enable HTTP and enter the customer web server (for example, www.huskyplanes.com) in "HTTP server domain name" on the Web tab.
9       Select Enable FTP and enter the customer FTP server (for example, ftp.huskyplanes.com) in "FTP server domain name" on the File tab.
The final step is to configure the domain names and Mail Exchange (MX) records on your DNS server.
Now, Husky Planes’ customer web and Directory traffic will be routed through the Employee Services clustered service, and all employee traffic will be routed through the primary Internet Services.
