To install FirstClass Migrator, you must install the application, connect to the Microsoft Exchange Server, and prepare the FirstClass server.

STEP 1: Install the application
To install FirstClass Migrator:
1       Insert the FirstClass Migrator for Microsoft Exchange Server CD.
If the application doesn稚 load automatically:
a       Select Run from the Start menu.
b       Type
drive:\fcms.exe
where drive is the letter of your CD-ROM drive.
2       Follow the prompts.
After FirstClass Migrator is installed, you must establish and verify connections with the Microsoft Exchange Server and the FirstClass server.

STEP 2: Connect to the Microsoft Exchange Server
To set up a connection with your desired Microsoft Exchange Server:
1       Log into the Windows NT domain as a domain administrator.
This will give you the necessary privileges to the Microsoft Exchange Global Address List, as well as the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) service (in case you prefer to log into the LDAP service with default credentials).

For more information about Microsoft Exchange LDAP service, see the related Microsoft documentation.
2       Create a MAPI profile that permits you to access the desired Microsoft Exchange site.
To do this, you must specify a mailbox native to the desired site when creating the profile.
3       Log into the Microsoft Exchange Server through Microsoft Outlook using the MAPI profile you created, and verify the following privileges:
a       the Microsoft Exchange account you logged into has at least "Editor Role" permissions to all public folders viewable from the current Microsoft Exchange site
b       the Windows account associated with that Microsoft Exchange account has at least administrator rights at all related Microsoft Exchange permission levels (organization level, site level, and server level).

To show hidden accounts on Microsoft Exchange 5.5, choose "Log into Active Directory Service with alternate credentials", and assign an account which is a member of the local administrators' group on the server.

STEP 3: Prepare the FirstClass server
To prepare your FirstClass server for migration:
1       Validate the integrity of both the FirstClass network store and the FirstClass Directory using FirstClass Tools.
2       Perform a thorough audit.
3       Verify the network connection between the machine where FirstClass Migrator is installed and the FirstClass server by logging into the administrator account with the FirstClass client.
4       Share the FirstClass network store and grant FirstClass Migrator full access (read and write) from the working computer.

The proper procedure for sharing the FirstClass network store may vary depending on your OS. See the related OS documentation for more information.
