9203_31709_1.png Summary
Want an easy way to plan, distribute, and collect surveys? Use FirstClass to manage all the details. Use a FirstClass document to create and edit the survey, the Contacts folder to compile a list of contacts and create a mail list, and a mail rule to collect and sort the surveys.
This flowchart shows the traditional way you would manage a survey, and how you can do it in FirstClass.

9203_31709_1.png Example
Michael Green is the VP of Sales and Marketing at Husky Planes. To get feedback about the service his employees are providing, he decides to survey their customers.
He starts by creating a conference called Customer Satisfaction Survey.

In it, he creates:
       a document called Survey
This is where he creates and edits the survey. He can even maintain multiple surveys for different audiences. If he chooses, he can give permissions to others so they can also edit the survey.

       a Survey Submissions subconference
This is where customers send their completed surveys. He assigns an email address to the conference by clicking Directory on the Permissions form and entering the desired email address in the Alias field.

a folder inside Survey Submissions called Choice C.
This is where replies are sorted that require immediate attention. He creates a mail rule in the Survey Submissions subconference to handle the replies. The mail rule looks for the phrase "Unsatisfactory" in the survey and files them in this folder for special attention.

Once Michael has finalized the survey, he creates a mail list and sends it. Since he shares all of his employees' contact databases, he has all of the customers right in his Contacts folder.

9203_31709_1.png Variation
If Michael is comfortable using FirstClass Designer, he can create a form for the survey using checkboxes, dropdown lists, and fields for comments.
Another option is for Michael to send an email that instructs users to go to a public conference on the web site to get the survey.
