About DN modifiers
DN modifiers are optional prefixes added to a user's DN that describe how the DN is to be used.
Voice DNs are entered on the User Information tab of the User Information form. Once a DN Modifier is set up, you can see it from the VS console if you request an Alias List dump.
Possible DN modifiers
The DN modifiers are as follows:
Modifier |
Description |
M |
DN with MWI that can be set by Voice Services. This refers to a DN that is used strictly for MWI, and which has no physical phone attached. This DN will not be used for transfers, call user, or to accept calls. Note Only one M DN modifier can be assigned per user. This must be the first DN
entered in the Voice DN field on the User Information tab of the User Information form. This DN has MWI, but can't be used to call the user. To call the user, the user would need a designated DN on the User Information form without MWI. |
N |
DN with no MWI Note This must be the first DN entered in the Voice DN field on the User Information tab of the User Information form. The user can receive calls, but no MWI will be triggered. |
V |
Virtual DNs are used: • for individuals without phones • for a conference DN. Note There are no phones associated with virtual DNs and they can't be have MWI. Messages can be sent to a virtual DN: • from a voice menu using the Dial Direct or Dial Number functions if "verify user" is selected on the Voice Menu form • from a voice menu using the Leave Message function • by logging into FirstClass using a phone and composing a voice message to the virtual number. |
