About transferring files
You can share a file with other users by attaching it to a message. You can add explanatory text in the message body.
If you are working with a large file that is only on your computer, and you, or someone who might download this file, use a modem, consider compressing the file before attaching it. Compressed files often transfer faster and take up less space on the server.
Attaching files to messages
To attach a file to a message:
1 Click Browse at "Attachments".
2 Select the file.
3 Click Attach.
Removing attachments
To remove a file that is selected, but not yet attached (it appears in the "Attachments" input field), delete the contents of the input field. If you have done nothing while this message was open except select the file, you can also go to another page without saving the message.
To remove a file that is already attached (it appears directly on the header, not in the input field), click the Delete icon beside it.
Previewing attached files
FirstClass lets you preview an attached file or listen to an attached sound file before you download it. To do this, click the attachment. To return to the message, click your web browser's Back button.
If your browser cannot display this type of file, you are asked if you want to download it.
Downloading attached files
To download an attachment, use your web browser's standard download feature.
If a conference message with an attachment appears in italics, the attachment has not yet been approved for download. You cannot open this message and download the attachment until it is approved and the italics are gone.
