Project: Online scrapbook
Grade Level: Grades 3-8
Curriculum Area(s): Social Studies, Art
Features we use:
conference permissions (more information)
presentations (more information)
Scrapbook your memories and put them online. Choose a theme, such as a field trip, vacation, or area of study. Scan photos into the computer, add graphics, and narrate the scene.
STEP 1: Create the FirstClass environment.
1 Create a Scrapbooks conference in a location where students have access to it.
2 Give yourself Controller permissions and students Contributor permissions.
3 Create a folder for each student. This is where students will create their documents and compile their scrapbooks.
If you wish for students not to see each other's work until the end of the project, you can create conferences instead of folders for each student and set permissions so you and the student have Controller permissions but All Users are Disallowed.
STEP 2: Outline the details.
Create a Details or Welcome document in the Scrapbooks conference. Include details such as the due date, the required information, resources that can or cannot be used, and presentation instructions.
STEP 3: Scan in the photos.
If photos have not already been converted to image files, you may need to scan in the photos for the students and upload them to their respective folders.
STEP 4: Do presentations or share the scrapbooks.
Click here for guidance to create presentations in FirstClass.
You can have students present their scrapbooks to the class, or simply make the project containers available to share with peers, staff, and parents.
