Before beginning to install and configure Voice Services, you must install and configure your telephony hardware. If you have not already done so, choose the appropriate link below for instructions about configuring your hardware.
Installing the Voice Services software
Install Voice Services on the Voice Services machine from the installation CD by inserting the FirstClass® Unified Communications installation CD and following the online instructions.
If the application does not start automatically:
1       Choose Run from the Start menu.
2       Type
drive:\setup.exe
where drive is your CD drive.
3       Click OK.
Voice Services files and folders
By default, the FC Server folder will install in the root of your main drive (C:\). If you wish, you can click Browse > Choose Folder to change the drive and folder where they will be placed. When installed, using the defaults, the Voice Services structure will be as follows:
in C:\FCServer\
vservice.exe            Voice Services module executable.
BTCALL.cfg              Contained in configurations using Brooktrout cards only. This Brooktrout configuration file is a text-editable file used in initializing the Brooktrout cards.
BT_CPARM.cfg    Contained in configurations using Brooktrout cards only. This is the Brooktrout parameters file.
Fcp                                     This is the Flexible Communications Protocol file, the proprietary FirstClass protocol.
vs                                      The folder containing the Voice Services files.
in vs\:
Config                          This folder contains the following:
VSsvcs          A file used by Centrinity staff to set logging levels for troubleshooting purposes.
centigram.ini   The initializaton file for the Centigram TUI.
Meridian.ini    The initializaton file for the Meridian TUI.
tui.ini                 The main TUI initialization file.
gcconfig.cf     T1/E1 configurations only. If you have a T1/E1 interface using Dialogic boards this file contains a mapping of ports on your system. It is essential that this file be edited for your system. Click here for instructions on editing this file.
Country                 This folder contains text files with country code information used to determine caller information. For information about editing these files, see Area and country codes.
Naarea                  This folder contains text files with North American area code information. Area code files must be edited when configuring Voice Services, and periodically thereafter. For information about editing these files, see Area and country codes.
Prompts                 This folder contains all the voice prompts required for the telephone user interface. The exact path to this folder must be entered on the Voice Services Administration form.
The prompts folder contains an English folder and a French folder.

Do not delete the Prompts folder or any files or folders within the Prompts folder. Voice Services will not work if any of these resources are missing.
Realspeak                       This is the text-to-speech engine.
Callans.fc                      This settings file will be created once the call answer account has been created.
Vservice.fc             This settings file will be created once the gateway between the FirstClass server and the Voice Services machine has been created.

Dialogic configurations only: Do not start Voice Services. Return to T1/E1 or D42/D82 installation and configuration to complete the setup procedure.
The Voice Services executable
The Voice Services installation creates a shortcut called "Shortcut to vservice.exe" on the Desktop with the following icon:
