Windows Telephony Settings
The telephony settings in your Windows NT or Windows 2000 operating system on the Voice Services machine must be correctly configured for Voice Services to work properly when dialing out, and to accurately display incoming call information.
This must be done prior to running Voice Services. Keep track of all settings for future reference.
Follow the configuration instructions for your Windows operating system:
Windows NT
1       Open Telephony from the Windows Control Panel.

I am dialing from
Enter a logical name for this connection. For example, the location of this Voice Services machine.
I am in this country/region
Enter the country where this Voice Services machine is located.
Area code
Enter your local area code where this Voice Services machine is located.
For local calls, dial
If you need to dial a number to access an outside line for local calls, enter the number.
For long distance calls, dial
If you need to dial a number to access an outside line for long distance calls, enter the number. You must enter this number, even if it is the same as the number used to access a local outside line.
To disable call waiting, dial
Do not select this option.
Dial using
Select Tone dial.
For long distance calls, use this calling card
If you want all long distance calls charged to a calling card, choose your calling card type.
2       Click Area Code Rules and complete the form:

When calling within my area code
Always dial the area code (10-digit dialing)
Select if your location always requires 10-digit dialing.
Dial 1 for numbers with the following prefixes
Always leave this field blank.
Preferences for this section will be set in a Voice Services file. See Area and country code files.
When calling to other area codes
Do not dial 1 for numbers with the following area codes
If there are any area codes which are entirely toll-free from your area code, click New and enter the area code.
3       Click OK and exit Telephony.
Windows 2000 configuration
1       Open Phone and Modem Options from the control panel.
2       Choose New to configure a new location, or Edit to change an existing configuration.
3       Enter the following information on the General tab:

Location name
Enter a name for this Voice Services location. You may want to use the same name as the voice gateway for this Voice Services module.
Country/region
Enter the country where this Voice Services machine is located.
Area code
Enter the local area code for this location.
Dialing rules
To access an outside line for local calls, dial
If you need to dial a number to access an outside line for local calls, enter the number.
To access an outside line for long-distance calls, dial
If you need to dial a number to access an outside line for long distance calls, enter the number. You must enter this number, even if it is the same as the number used to access a local outside line.
To disable call waiting, dial
Do not select this option.
Dial using
Select Tone dial.
4       Complete the Area Code Rules form for all area codes that can be dialed toll-free from your area code.

Choose New to configure a new area code.
Area code you are calling
Area code       
Enter the area code you can call locally from your location.
Prefixes
Always select Include all the prefixes within this area code. The area code rules set in the Naarea folder will further refine the toll-free calling area.
Rules
Do not select Dial.
Select Include the area code.
Click OK.
5       Do not configure anything on the Calling Card tab.
6       Click OK and exit Phone and Modem Options.
